Infrared Movement Sensors for Lighting Control

Motion sensor, we also can say occupancy sensor, which is used in corridor, staircase or other dim places for electric lighting control. If there is motion being detected, it is assumed that the place is not empty, and thus needs to be lit. When there is no motion, the light will go out automatically after preset delay time. Light turning off to some extent can save substantial amounts of energy. We will try to control 2 led lamps with 2 infrared movement detectors (W-01) and AC activated receiver with time delay function (S2DA-AC220). The working distance of wireless signal is 100m (open field). The detection distance of motion detector is 10m. The RF receiver is an adjustable time delay receiver. This delay time is user-selectable. Delay time can be adjusted as you like within 0 second~99 hours.

Note: Don’t install 2 infrared motion detectors within a small space because of generation of interference.

remote control

Let’s see the following material. We have 2 motion detectors, receiver, 2 AC lamps, AC 220 power supply.

S2DA-AC&W-01 material

The wiring and operation pictures are as follows:

Wire 2 lamps to the rf receiver.

S2DA-AC&W-01 wiring

Set delay time: 5 seconds for each relay and switch on the power.

delay time

Hand moves around the first motion detector, lamp 1 turns on automatically.

S2DA-AC&W-01 lamp 1 on

When there is no motion, lamp 1 will be off by itself after 5 seconds.

S2DA-AC&W-01 lamp off

Hand moves around the second motion detector, lamp 2 turns on automatically.

S2DA-AC&W-01 lamp 2 on

When there is no motion, lamp 2 will be off by itself after 5 seconds.

Lamps Control Automation by Motion Detectors

Motion sensors are often used in indoor spaces to control electric lighting. If no motion is detected, it is assumed that the space is empty and no people activities, and thus does not need to be lit. We will try to make motion detector 2 led lamps with 2 infrared movement detector (W-01) and RF receiver with time delay function (S2DA-DC12). The working distance of motion detector is 100m (open field). The detection distance is 10m. The RF receiver is an adjustable time delay receiver. This delay time is user-selectable. Delay time can be adjusted as you like within 0 second~99 hours. Then lamps turning off automatically after delay time in such circumstances can save substantial amounts of energy.

Note: Don’t install 2 infrared motion detectors within a small space because of generation of interference.
